#23: Relish in the making, flourish in the incomplete. A little reminder to sit in the gentle mess of life-in-progress and be happy

Life is not meant to be an over-polished trophy.

Sometimes though, we can’t help ourselves; we get caught up in trying to make it this big, impressive, shiny thing.

We obsess, self-assess, goal-orient, productivity-hack, focus-focus and super-charge our way to efficiency and success.

We move the goalpost and change the dream; never allowing ourselves to feel like we got where we were trying to go in the first place.

We’re so hungry not to feel empty that we never allow ourselves a moment to feel full.

We don’t give ourselves permission to spend more time being where we truly are.

We don't allow ourselves to find joy in all the ways we’re still becoming.

We hear ‘it’s about the journey, not the destination’, but we don't slow down to be present for the process.

What does that even look like?

Here are some ways to full up on contented feelings at any time:

Relish in the making

The sweet spot of vision, purpose and the drive to make it happen; what a feeling! Spend more time enjoying it.

Flourish in the incomplete

Feel the abundance of all the layers in your life that are moving, shifting, growing and evolving all at their own pace. It’s a beautiful thing.

Frolic in the gentle mess

Let yourself get lost in the messy middle and lose sight of the end, just for a bit. Find yourself playful in the process.

Amuse in the unanswered

Be okay with the questions and allow the answers to reveal themselves when they’re ready. Smile at the mystery while you wait.

Delight in the indecision

Sometimes you just don’t know and that’s okay. Revel in released expectation until you arrive into knowing.

Be a work-in-progress enjoying the process.

Can you think of any more ‘incomplete processes’ you can find space to enjoy yourself in?
